THE MMS CONFERENCE:  WHO WE ARE & WHAT'S GOING ON...

OCWM:  A Major Issue We're Facing

"Our Church's Wider Mission" is the phrase we use to describe both 1) the work we do as the U.C.C. beyond the walls of our local/home churches and 2) the offering/monies given to support that work.  OCWM giving makes U.C.C. conference and national church work and ministries possible.  The Problem:  On average, OCWM giving has not increased in our conference in a long time.  As a result, MMS is facing major budget problems that are affecting our ability to fund conference staff positions and provide support to all of our great ministries.  Learn more by clicking on the link above.

Congregational Vitality: A Current Project in the MMS Conference

According to http://www.thefreedictionary.com/vitality , "vitality" means "the capacity to live, grow or develop."  Does that describe your church?  Find out more about this project by clicking on the pic above.

Q:  What is this thing we call a "conference" anyway?

A:  The Missouri Mid-South Conference of the United Church of Christ is a group/entity that equals the sum of its parts.  "Huh?" You say.  To put it more simply, if you belong to any of the U.C.C. churches in the state of Missouri, or any of the six in northwest Arkansas or Memphis, Tennessee, then YOU, along with the members of all those other U.C.C. churches, are the "conference."

We, the MMS Conference, are a
diverse group of churches and people who choose to honor God's covenant with us by living in covenant with one another.  Recognizing that churches are not islands unto themselves and that God created us for relationship, we choose not only to fellowship with one another, but to embrace one another in a dialogue-rich relationship of mutual accountability.  Together, WE ARE "MMS," one of 38 U.C.C. conferences.  We rock.
